...MoreFollowing her Ph.D on Supernovae, Dr Pearce undertook post-doctoral research in the fields of (i) Supernovae and (ii) Solar Astrophysics. She then completed a medical degree at Oxford University and practised in the NHS for several years in the field of orthopaedics. She has undertaken research into (i) pulsars (ii) space medicine and (iii) medical inventions including Orthopaedic devices for use in theatre, a device for assisting the partially sighted, a technique for imaging plaques in arteries and a blood clot removal device for use in thromboembolic strokes. Dr Pearce is also a senior lecturer in clinical physiology and anatomy. She was a short-listed astronaut candidate for the JUNO Space mission.
