Professor Farhat Yusuf has a first class Honours and an M.A. in Statistics from the University of Punjab in Pakistan, and a Ph.D. in Demography from the Australian National University. He currently holds a Personal Chair in the Department of Business at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. His research interests encompass demography of ethnic minorities, business demographics, consumer behaviour and public health, particularly ageing and women’s health issues. Apart from a very prominent research profile, Professor Yusuf has been consulting for a number of international organizations, which include the United Nations Population Fund, International Agency for Research on Cancer, and the U.S. Academy of Science. He is a member of numerous national and international associations such as the Australian Population Association, the Australian and New Zealand Marketing Academy, the British Academy of Marketing, the International Sociological Association (ISA), and the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP). He was Chair of the ISA’s Research Committee on Sociology of Population (1998-2002) and is currently Chair of the IUSSP’s International Scientific Panel on Business Demography.
