Dr Dina Abbott is a Reader in Development Geography at the University of Derby, UK. She also works as an associate lecturer and consultant for both undergraduate and post-graduate programmes of the Open University, UK. Dr Abbott's main interests are related to gendered poverty in developing countries. This is reflected in her PhD which was based in Mumbai looking at the Annapurna Mahila Mandal (an organisation of 'khannawallis' or mealmakers. Her more recent research focus is Africa, both West and East Africa, where she has been involved with the development of women's small-scale agricultural projetcs and farming information systems. She has also published on the ethics, pedagogy and methodological implications of research processes in development.
recently she has been involved with a major interdisciplinary EU project to develop on-line Masters materials for the "Lived Experience of Climate Change" (LECHe) in collobration with eight European universities.
