Despina Kakoudaki teaches courses in film studies, literature, cultural studies, and the history of technology and new media at American University in Washington DC. She received her doctorate in Comparative Literature from the University of California at Berkeley, and has taught in the departments of Comparative Literature and Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard University. Recent projects include a collection of critical essays on the work of Pedro Almodóvar, co-edited with Bradley Epps, and articles on objects and the internet, the role of robots in science and popular culture, and melodrama in contemporary Hollywood cinema.
