I am a community developer, with the Older Adult Team at Calgary Family Services. I am currently the project coordinator of a new initiative called Elder Service Corps. This is a new community program, engaging older adults (65+) to participate in group trainings and community service placements. My passion is in facilitating social change at the community level. I am interested in community based participatory research (CBPR), and facilitated a CBPR project in the Philippines with 8 local leaders/elders living in underserved communities in urban areas. I am an interdisciplinary and life-long learner. I have a Bachelor of Arts (major in Law and Society), Master of Social Work (specialization: international and community development), and an Applied Project Management Certificate. My three key focus areas are: 1) Mainstream issues of ageing in the international and community development context, and promote multigenerational social welfare programs, services and projects; 2) Promote the central role of culture in community development practice; and 3) Integrate creative media techniques with social work research, and promote dissemination through social networks (youtube, facebook, twitter, etc.). I created a youtube video that documents the research project I facilitated in the Philippines: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XLdznynKb0
