The professional background of Clarisa Diaz is concentrated in the crux of research investigating relationships between architecture, urbanism and social studies. Research and design projects in which she has worked and managed include strategizing community exchanges for Chinese villagers under the DESIS Network; surveying urban amenities and facilities for Chilean social housing residents under the US Fulbright Scholar Program; and prototyping alternative housing for Palestinian refugees under the United Nations Relief and Works Agency. She is the founder of Places for All, a platform for voicing global communities through creative solutions (www.placesforall.com). Additionally Diaz has published essays about social design and the displaced in two books alongside distinguished authors and co-authored academic papers for design journals and conferences. These publications recently include an essay for the New York Times acclaimed book Learning from Hangzhou, Parsons Journal of Design Strategies, Asia Design Journal, Artifact and Mind Design (Our Glocal Future) by the Danish Centre of Design. She has exhibited and curated presentations about the urban poor and design with the North American and Chilean Institute of Culture, US Embassy, Shanghai Biennale, and guest lectured for various universities.
