Cheryl Forchuk is a Professor in the Labatt Family School of Nursing at the University of Western Ontario and a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. She is also an Assistant Director for the Lawson Health Research Institute, the research arm of the London hospitals. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Windsor. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Toronto with a clinical specialty in mental health and her Ph.D. from the College of Nursing at
Wayne State. Dr. Forchuk has published on many topics including housing, transitional discharge, therapeutic relationships, denial and sexuality. She has published a book through Sage on Hildegard Peplau's interpersonal theory of nursing. Currently, her research explores barriers and strategies for implementing best practices, the therapeutic aspects of the nurse-client relationship, interprofessional education, housing issues, and the transition from hospital to community. Dr. Forchuk is also a co-editor on a book titled "Homelessness, housing and the experiences of mental health consumer-survivors: finding truths creating change" being published by the Canadian Scholars Press.
