I am a Nigerian national currently studying for my PhD in University of Exeter UK. With earlier degrees in Drama and Literature, my current study is a theoretical exploration of emancipatory approach in Entertainment Education for community change. This highlights the sociocultural exigencies limiting the impact of different forms of Entertainment Education in generating sustained behaviour and social change in individuals and communities. These Entertainment Education materials are extensively used in international intercultural development efforts. With a strong reference to concepts in Emancipatory Transformative Education and Change theories, I have been working on the articulation of a different approach in the management of educational aspect of change in international development efforts. This approach considers human change as continuous internal creative response to existential problems which does not require extensive external persuasion or control but rather an interruptive interrogation from a different other. My interest is in furthering this concept through design based empirical research.
