Boglárka Kiss was born and raised in Hungary. She received her bachelor’s degree from Whittier College, and her M.F. A. degree from the University of California, Irvine. She earned her doctorate from Boston University. Her research interests include historical and policy inquiry in music education.
A full-time instructor of Music at Pasadena City College, Ms. Kiss teaches undergraduate courses in-person and online in music history, performance practice, history of opera, music appreciation, and humanities through the arts. She also teaches studio flute at College of the Canyons. She has also taught music theory, introduction to music, world music, history of rock, and music business in the past.
Ms. Kiss is also a professional flutist and recording artist in the Los Angeles area, playing in orchestras such as the Pasadena Symphony, Orchestra Santa Monica and Golden State Pops, and recording for film and other projects. She is featured on piccolo, flute, alto flute, and ethnic flutes on several film soundtracks and other musical projects. She recorded, produced and released her solo debut album Air in 2004.
