Birge Yıldırım is currently working as a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University, GSD. She holds an academic position as a Research Assistant at Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Landscape Architecture. She is continuing her PhD studies on "Production of Public Space at Istanbul: 1939-1948". On 2005 she graduated from ITU Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture. At the same year she attended to Graduate Degree on Architectural History. During her studies she participated to many competitions and win many prizes such as Dicle Valley Urban Design and Architectural Project Competition, Encouragement Award, S.O.S. İstanbul Competition, 1 st prize, Mimed Competition, 3rd grade Success Prize, Knauf Fair Stand Design Competition; Mantion, Çuhadaroğlu Alu’2004 Korugan Competition, Mantion, UIA Celebration of the Cities International Competition, Jury Great Prize, Taskısla Courtyard Design Competition, 1st Prize, Cafe Sera Design Competition, 2nd Prize, Pananos Beach Competition Selçuk, 3rd prize, Kalestone Design Competition, Juri Special Prize. Between 2007-2008 academic year, she worked with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Paulo Mendonca at the University of Minho on her master thesis in Portugal.
She continues her studies on urban planning history and landscape design.
