Ayako Hirano was born in Osaka, Japan. She has been teaching English for more than 15 years. She received MA in teaching English as a foreign language from Kansai University, in 2013. In 2015, she became a lecturer at Language Education Center, Ritsumeikan University and started Ph. D studies at Kobe University, in Japan. Her research interest includes task-based learning, psycholinguistics applications in English language teaching, active learning and autonomous learning in English classroom context. She is a member of a research project granted by Ritsumeikan Inamori Philosophy Research center, which was founded by Kazuo Inamori, a top-notch Japanese business leader. The center provides support for interdisciplinary research which demonstrates founder’s motto “RITA”, a sense of altruism, in the field of academic study. With the help from the center, their project examines the development of Japanese EFL learners’ “RITA”, a sense of communicative supportiveness, during the course of the study.
