Andries Jordaan started his academic career with the B.Sc Agric at the University of the Free State and the degree B. Inst Agrar (Hons) Cum Laude at the University of Pretoria and a M.Sc. Agric (Agricultural Economics) Cum Laude at the University of the Free State. Andries Jordaan has practical experience in agriculture and disaster management and was involved in several successful development projects. He was the expert witness on agriculture in the Richtersveld land claim court case – the largest land claim in the history of South Africa. He conducted several environment impact assessments as an agricultural specialis. Andries Jordaan was also part of the project team for the Merowe Dam resettlement scheme in Sudan as the Agricultural Economic specialist and also participated in the two person team who evaluated the success of the resettlement schemes. He is the Director of DiMTEC at the University of the Free State where he also lectures in disaster risk management, environmental economics, development economics, and agricultural extension. Mr Jordaan is a member of several professional societies and has published several scientific and popular papers. He is busy with his PhD with the title: “Agriculture as a vehicle for peace building and economic growth in conflict and post conflict countries”
