For the past 31 years Dr. Leon has provided clinical services, training and consultations on children and families. She is currently an Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Central Florida, where she chairs the Practice Curriculum Sequence and teaches clinical and research courses. Her primary areas of training, teaching, clinical and research interests are in infant and child mental health, Latino children and families, and clinical documentation. Recently Dr. Leon developed an assessment tool (the CALF) for assessing areas of life functioning in various client systems. This assessment tool is currently used in various community based agency sites in Florida. She has also published in the areas of child mental health, family systems theory, assessment tools, Latina mothers, and the impact of migration, clinical documentation and psycho-pharmacology.
