I am Cockney by birth and was brought up interculturally. I have an Arts degree from the University of Toulouse, and an MA in Teaching from the School for International Training, US. I started teaching in HE at 21 at the Complutense University of Madrid. I had the good fortune to work with Humanistic luminaries during their heyday, and my eclectic teaching approach reflects what I learned from them. I came to Japan in 1991 because of a perceived affinity with the culture and people and a belief that I would be able to further my education and my child's, and was right. I have contributed to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning for six fruitful years and have taught pedagogy through English at the national University of Miyazaki for four years. I have a passion for the arts, especially the opera, and share that bounty with my students.
