...MoreAlison Anderson’s primary research interests are in the communication of environmental risks, public understanding of science and the news media. She has published extensively. She is author of Media, Culture and the Environment (Routledge, 1997), Nanotechnology, Risk and Communication (Palgrave, 2009) and co-editor of The Changing Consumer (Routledge, 2002) and Tourism, Consumption and Representation (2006). Dr Anderson is currently writing the book Media, Environment and the Network Society (Palgrave 2011). Recent articles on media portrayals of environmental issues, nanotechnology and genetics have appeared in journals such as Public Understanding of Science; Journal of Risk Research; Science Communication; Health, Risk and Society and New Genetics and Society. Her recent projects on nanotechnologies and the news media (funded by the ESRC and the British Academy) are among the first studies to be undertaken on the social aspects of nanotechnologies in the UK. Alison is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, founding Associate Editor of the International Journal of Technoethics and Editorial Board Member of Environmental Communication.
