Abstract
Academic museums (galleries or museums that are part of university) serve multiple audiences: university students, faculty, staff, and also local community members. Engaging a range of audience types can be challenging, as it requires a deep understanding of needs, interests, and clear alignment with the museum’s goals. This study examines practical strategies for engaging multiple types of audiences in an academic museum setting, and discusses how practitioners harness the tools of front-end research, collaborative program development, and summative evaluation to maximize the impact of their work.
