Utopian Museology: When Transformative Philosophies Come to Pass

Abstract

Utopian philosophers have often provided discourse of public good the value of culture, the humanities and equality. Contemporaneous philosophers and arts theorists have moved to the ethics of post-humanity, transformative paradigms and decolonisation. What would an ideal museum look like and how do we as researchers and theorists decide? This paper explores the visions of classical utopian philosophers and where they intersect with current philosophy particularly with regards to museology.
