LGBT+ at the Evita Museum

Abstract

The Evita Museum, created in 2002, is located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Its mission is to diffuse the life and work of one the greatest women in the Argentinean history, Maria Eva Duarte de Peron. Evita, who, despite her poor childhood, achieved becoming one of the most charismatic political leaders of the twentieth century, transformed charity into dignity and conquered the vote for Argentinean women in 1947. Although she never pronounced on sexual minorities, her life was taken as a source of inspiration, and her image was re-signified by the LGBT+ Community in different parts of the world. Several theatrical scripts, literary pieces, films, adds, and bars show this phenomenon. This paper explores different strategies that the Museum could design and implement in order to achieve the consolidation of LGBT+ among its audiences, considering their punctual needs and specifications and collaborating in the integration of this community in society as the main objective.
