Touch Objects to See Them: An Inclusive Exhibition at the Museum of Architecture in Moscow

Abstract

As a rule, people who are blind are deprived of the opportunity to perceive architectural structures entirely. Thus, this sphere of human heritage remains inaccessible to this group of people. Tactile models allow people who are blind to see the beauty and harmony of architecture. When creating tactile models, it is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of perception of people who are blind. It is important that the layout shows the features of the object, but not overloaded with details. Also the layout should be safe and pleasant to the touch. The main objective of this study is to consider ways to make the heritage of the Museum of Architecture accessible to all categories of visitors, including people who are blind. To do this, we are exploring both technical and artistic means.
