Trigonometry Village

Abstract

Mathematics, the base for different scientific and technological studies, has been studied worldwide as a compulsory subject in school curriculum to help young people communicate and use the mathematical languages to solve day-to-day problems. Different research and practices are carried out on mathematical studies to make it child friendly and joyful, and different activities are planned in classrooms to make mathematics teaching learning interesting, understandable, and practical. However, there is a growing dissatisfaction among students about methods and classroom practices. Mathematics teaching and learning is limited within the classroom boundary in listening to the lectures and completing the home work, which consists of the routine problems roaming around the formulas. In this regard a Trigonometry Village is an attempt to provide students an opportunity to study the subject outside the classroom involving themselves in different kinds of project-based activities. The presenter imagines and dreams of a Trigonometry Village that could be included in inclusive museums not only for mathematics students and teachers, but also as the main attraction for different visitors visiting the museum. The museum would be miniature villages where students and teachers would find A-Z of school level trigonometry including its history and development with hand-held materials instantly available to use where ever appropriate.
