Role of the Women Artist in the Development of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, the Museum of Man

Abstract

IGRMS (Indra Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangralaya), the Museum of Man was created with the ideology of breaking the traditional role of the audience coming to the object to the object coming out to the audience. Spread over an area of 200 acres it was created by the ingenious communities from different parts of the country. However, the anthropology museum has used a lot of women’s indigenous artist that somehow remains invisible from the story of these objects. The paper will try to bring these women artists and their contribution to the forefront with this paper. In addition, the paper will also bring out how the IGRMS has been a success story and the way forward.
