Assistant Professor at the Arts Department of the University of Beira Interior. Vice-president of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and head of the MA on Branding and Fashion Design (since 2019), in association with IADE-UE. Previously responsible for the MA on Multimedia Design (2012-2017). Ph.D. in Communication Sciences, with a thesis in Semiotics and Design. A researcher from LabCom — Communication, and Arts, having participated in several projects throughout the last 20 years. Member of the Strategic Council of Guarda’s application to be the European Capital of Culture for 2027, as well as of the Strategic Council of Covilhã’s application to UNESCO’s Network of Creative Cities through Design. The organizer of the Conference on Indie Design, Zine Culture(s), and Critical Activism. Co-organizer of DESIGNA — International Conference on Design Research (since 2011) and ILUSTRADA — Meeting on Illustration (since 2016). Co-editor of Eikon: Journal on Semiotics and Culture. Member of the Scientific and Editorial Committees of several events and journals on Design and Visual Culture. Supervisor of master dissertations and projects, as well as a doctoral thesis, participating in frequent MA and Ph.D. juries in several capacities. Publications and research interests generally framed by Design Theory, Design Criticism, Visual Culture, and Contemporary Art.
