The Power of Images and Technologies in Formulating Virtual-installation Art

Abstract

In the Cambridge Dictionary, the definition of “Power” is the “ability to control people and events” or something such as “Image”, which is a concept identified as “a representation of the external form of a person or thing in art” (Oxford Dictionary). It is based on the visual representation of something such as a picture of a person, house, mount or animal, which might represent in the form of photography, painting, sculpture or any other electronic format. The 2D and 3D images have substantial power in creating, formulating, understanding, communicating, transferring and exploring new experiences of artworks. In this research, the image provides a platform for creating and developing virtual-installation art using technologies such as digital capture and manipulation of photographic images. The researcher uses a practice-based experimental approach as the research method. The result shows the power of images in creating a simulation technique of real Installation art. The result also offers a simple and easy technique which could be used in teaching and leading art education within the school setting with less cost, equipment and materials to create such work. This research offers some recommendations for further experiments with contemporary art techniques of representation.
