Waves: An Artistic Formation of Energy Patterns within a Poetic Digital Environment

Abstract

Originally focussed on the study of scientific wave pattern and the phenomena of beach cusps, this paper looks into the poetic and artistic patterns created from these natural events. As an artist and designer focused on the digital environment this paper explores the connection between what is real and what is virtual and how inspiration is taken from nature and explored in the digital environment. Seen through a poetic moving image piece this creative visualisation and scientific study of water wave energy patterns and the formation of beach cusps has shaped an artistic observation of these energy patters created form their movements. It focuses on the creation of the artistic work (Waves: A poem film) and explore the digital environment of the poem film. This poem film uses type that speaks to us as waves of energy that move through space and time. Such energy comes from nowhere and moves to nowhere. As it changes inside an infinite void, it establishes meaning then dissolves poetically, speaking with the beauty of a silent voice, through an atmosphere of electrical sound.
