Reception Analysis: War Images Regarding Pakistan India Issue

Abstract

Patriotic feelings lead towards love, affection, association and strong affirmation for one’s country whereas humanitarian feelings work for universal acceptance regardless of any disparity of race, religion, ethnicity and culture. As a source of community sustainability, Patriotism is to create ideological bonding amongst citizens of any country whereas its concurrence with humanism poses certain challenges when it faces confrontation with several terms of the concept. The study aims at measuring impact of patriotic feelings upon the perception of war photos by the youngsters drawing upon the theoretical framework of schema theory. It will attempt to find out how patriotic feelings of an individual affects his universal humanitarian feelings. It asserts that more patriotic sentiments may lead to less inclination towards humanitarian feelings. For the purpose, impact of patriotic feelings on the humanitarian emotions will be gauged and the relationship of these concepts in the context of Pakistani university students` perceptions will be measured. Sample of 100 students will be taken under consideration subjecting to a stimulus material of war photos via pre-posttest group technique. Thus study assumes that more the level of patriotism less will be inclination towards humanitarian feelings in respondents.
