Socio-sanitary Innovation in Mental Health Cancer Prevention: The Patient Navigation Model

Abstract

The Co-Captain pilot Project is funded by Horizonte Europe. It aims to prevent cancer in people with mental health problems through the achievement of healthy lifestyle habits. The main objective of the project is to reduce the burden of cancer in this population through the creation of a patient navigator that will facilitate the information and accompaniment by the different systems involved in the territory for a comprehensive and coordinated care of the person. It will also detect barriers in terms of access to primary care systems for cancer prevention. Research with MIXED methodology through the figure of the patient navigator: 1- Quantitative analysis of variables (longitudinal in four stages T0-T1-T2). 2- Quasi-experimental analysis- Observation and study of causal relationships between ‘exposure’ and ‘response’ (PRE-POST). The implications of this project have an impact on the relationship between people and systems, but also between systems and people, since the analysis of barriers to access to cancer prevention is returned to public policies in order to generate changes from within the systems themselves.
