Abstract
The ideal body imposed on both men and women in recent years encourages individuals to consume for their own appearance. From this point of view, the aim of this study is to reveal the impact of social media on young women’s body-related procedures. For this purpose, in-depth interviews were conducted with 11 university students who had undergone aesthetic procedures. The questions included their frequency of social media use and how much they were influenced by social media in their decisions about the procedures they had undergone. The findings showed that the participants identified themselves with the influencers on social media and decided to have a procedure to resemble that person. In addition, friends were found to be as influential as social media in the decision to have aesthetic procedures.
