Emotional Balancee - a Root Cause of Emotional Wellness: A New Model and Assessment that Simplifies Development

Abstract

Given the significant dip in global wellness during the pandemic, the pressure to design simplified methods for developing emotional wellness has increased dramatically. The EI3.0 Engagement Model and the EI3.0 assessment respond meaningfully to the call to conceptualize emotional wellness. These two EI3.0 wellness tools are introduced in this session. The EI3.0 Engagement Model is a framework for developing emotional balance, a root cause of emotional wellness. It maps the emotional wellness terrain by stripping it down to a primary dynamic and its opposite. We can finally see those deep currents that lead us astray and hold us back. The EI3.0 assessment is a self-survey that measures emotional balance. It pinpoints a person’s location on the map of emotional wellness. We can finally see where our best energy should go to develop emotional balance to the next location on the map. These tools emerged from systems thinking, a root-cause approach to understanding high-change leverage points in the development of emotional intelligence. They were matured across four rounds of research, applying widely used measures with satisfactory psychometric properties. The import of the model and the assessment is that they offer a simple, low-cost approach for wellness providers and clients, democratizing emotional wellness and making it a reality for the masses rather than a pipe dream of the emotionally distressed.
