Inhibiting Vascularization, Cell Proliferation and Inflammation of Endometriosis with Natural Therapies

Abstract

Endometriosis is a common gynecologic disorder that affects the pelvic peritoneum as well as the ovaries. Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent condition accompanied by a robust inflammatory response, resulting in pelvic pain and infertility. Resveratrol is a natural polyphenol with the ability to modulate estrogen receptors includes benefits of anti-inflammatory and antiproliferative properties. N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) an amino acid exerts a complex action on endometrial cells and inhibits COX-2 expression and may help improve fertility outcomes. Resveratrol and NAC seem to be beneficial in treating endometriosis in a clinical setting helping improve control of related symptoms. This session will address the significant issues on pelvic pain management and improve fertility outcomes. The presenter will review the research and describe strategies for helping clinicians deliver effective natural therapies for individuals diagnosed with endometriosis.
