Development of an Activity Based Program for the Improvement of Kinesthetic Skills

Abstract

This research was conducted for the development of an activity based program for the improvement of kinesthetic ability of the physically challenged children. Visual, tactile and propioceptive skills of the students were addressed for the enhancement of kinesthetic skills. The activity based program was developed for the improvement of kinesthetic ability of the physically handicapped children. The kinesthetic skills were measured by using the visual, tactile and propioceptive clues by a scale ranging from 1 to 8. The students were selected by using convenient sampling technique. The selected students were trained for six weeks in order to improve cognition. The training sessions consisted on different exercises including hand exercises, foot exercises and sensory integration therapy ball exercises provided to the students of physically handicapped. Paired sample t-test was applied to see effectiveness of the program on the kinesthetic skills through visual, tactile and propioceptive clues. It was note the visual and tactile clues were improved indicated in t (39) = 2.87, p < 0.005 and t (39) = 4.46, p < 0.005 respectively.
