Designing Emotional Self-regulation in Children

Abstract

The collaborative work done with all the stakeholders - children, parents, psychologist, teachers and designer - was decisive to the final results of this investigation. The methodology used included experiments with children based on existing psychology methods, so they could become effective and user-friendly. After an iterative process, a communication object was created and tested with both children and adults, one that was evaluated as being of great use both for educators and parents. This work addresses a very important area since it works with emotional self-regulation in children being this matter central to a healthy development of the young. It is rather important to support the intervention of parents and educators thus expanding the work of the psychologists and allowing them to work in a broader and richer approach.
