Abstract
Phytoremediation is environmentally friendly, cost-effective and aesthetically pleasing as a remediation tool. The concentration of lead and other toxic metals in Enyigba soil was analysed using Xray Fluorescence. Siam weeds were planted and the uptake kinetics studied for 6 months. Sequential extraction was done to ascertain the bioavailability of lead and other toxic metals. Bioaccumulation factor and Translocation factor of the heavy metals revealed that lead was significantly reduced after the experiment. The presence of lead in the environment requires remediation to avoid lead-related health consequences.
