Nurturing Self-Care Practices through the Arts, Movement, and Reflection

Abstract

The goal of this interactive workshop is provides a safe space for those working as helping professionals to check in with themselves learn about new self-care practices to improve their own mind, body, and soul wellness and prevent burnout. Often we are are so busy caring for others and our work, it can result in self neglect. This is a great opportunity to take time from our busy schedules to build and refine healthy self care practices that are energizing, sustainable, and realistic. Learn ways to use creative expression, healing dance movement, and a host of other exercises to help us maintain peace and sanity Lani will guide attendees through meditation and healing dance movement exercises to help unpack where we are in terms of emotional, spiritual, psychological, physical, professional, and personal well-being. During the workshop activists will learn about tools and resources that they can use to create a customized self care plan to cope with empathy, anxiety, stress, and all of the other emotions. We will have self care stations available for attendees to try out new ways of caring for themselves to help build their self care plan. Learn what self care means to you-discover your personal self care definitions learn ways to use creative expression, movement, and reflection exercises as cathartic outlets to maintain peace and sanity, and develop a sustainable creative self-care practice plan and schedule for accountability
