Abstract
The field of architectural education finds itself at a critical juncture, when the convergence of established practices and novel approaches may significantly reshape the potential of urban environments through the incorporation of technology. This study examines the union of traditional teaching strategies and advanced technical techniques, namely virtual reality (VR), in the realm of construction courses in architecture and design education. The conventional methodology used in architectural education frequently incorporates theoretical pedagogy and practical engagement with prototypes, which have demonstrated their efficacy throughout time. The advent of VR technology presents a transformative change in architecture education through the provision of immersive, interactive, and dynamic learning experiences. This research study suggests the integration of VR, especially the game “VR Construction Lab,” into construction courses to assess its effectiveness in contrast to conventional approaches. “The VR Construction Lab” offers students a distinctive platform in which they may participate in realistic building situations inside a virtual setting. This immersive experience aims to cultivate a more profound comprehension of intricate construction processes and their practical implications in the real world. This study examines the possible advantages and obstacles of using technological advancements in architectural education by evaluating the learning results, student engagement, and retention rates of standard construction courses compared to those that utilize VR technology. The objective is to determine if VR can effectively prepare students for the complex issues associated with current urban planning.
