Improving The Built Environment's Sustainability: Rejuvenation of Vernacular Architectural Practice

Abstract

Buildings reflect their surroundings by Illustrating the culture and resources. They tell the many stories of the individuals who lived there. Globally, when skyscrapers have grown increasingly prevalent, traditional building techniques look outmoded nowadays. We are neither inferior nor behind because we speak vernacular. Rural residents are unfamiliar of current building procedures. So, we risk losing equivalent houses built with modern materials in our present practice. In order to fit in, people often abandon their origins. But on the other hand, using fundamental construction procedures that are easily learned by the general public may be more efficient than using environmentally harmful materials. In this regard, supporting native, accessible materials and processes requires appropriate technological development. The strategy is based on basic procedures that almost everyone understands and utilizes. In order to better link the vernacular architecture to the contemporary world, this research topic is explored.
