Rethinking the ways in which we move about in the world are possible now with the significant upheaval to petrol-based movement systems. This coming era may be the perfect opportunity to do things differently when designing the ways that all living things move about on the planet. Starting with a rethink about what it means to be alongside a vehicle- what was once loud and emitting harmful pollutants, is, in the near-future a quieter and cleaner co-participant in our shared movement systems. What does this opportunity mean for how we can redesign our countryside and urban areas to have better parallel movement systems and crossings for all manner of mobility? The workshop will encourage various stakeholders to discuss openly their experiences and expectations for the future and to consider what can be remodelled in the shared public realm of streets and ways in anticipation of a more fluid, environmentally responsible, and interconnected evolving system.
