Abstract

In times of pandemic humanity is falling apart. Our project aims at reassembling the essence of human through establishing new unity. Encyclopedia of Anthropocene embraces spiritual voices of the past, marks of landscape and natural processes along with human activities to foster dialogue. We are driven by the question of utmost relevance for the present: How we can preserve and transfer knowledge under the pressure of disruption? We regard inustrially disrupted landscapes as a place populated with seats of intelligence inherited from the past, traces of recent infrastructural activities (humans) and disturbed biodiversity (biome). We suggest to go beyond implicit intuitions of natural beauty and alienated forms of capital circulation to find complex intelligence at the crossroads of ancestral knowledge permeating the present with the current existence of disrupted landscape and its impact on natural conditions. In this session, we will discuss how former sites of massive industrial production might be turned into spaces of knowledge accumulation and dissemination.
