Abstract
Smart cities promise solutions to sustainable development and a high quality of life with a smart management of city resources, cultural heritage considered as an existing resource that should be protected, preserved, and promoted to be a part of the components of a smart city, which is built on economic, tourist, residents, and recreational aspects. The study provides a critical review of smart heritage city (SHCity) by particularly looking into emerging practices of smart heritage policies as exemplar smart cities initiatives. The paper sheds light on the international strategies adopted by the smart cities in approving the smart techniques and historical context of the smart city. The aims is to develop a methodology and link the concepts of smart city- smart truism with smart development of the city and to propose recommendation related to the role of inheritance built to achieve intelligent development of the heritage city using living-lab approach. The study methodology adopts qualitative, descriptive, comparative methods. Data collected are used in the attempt of creating a detailed image of the tools used in smart heritage in a smart city context.
