Green Corridor of the West: Lineal Urban Park

Abstract

This project transforms the current layout of the Sarmiento Railroad and works in favor of urban mobility and living in Buenos Aires. The initiative proposes a system of large post-tensioned beams of 20m length over the existing masonry railway trench of the railway track, for the generation of an extensive green corridor that efficiently sews the urban scenario. It incorporates the concept of urban landscape as a guiding criterion for the improvement of environmental quality and consolidation of urban space while integrating the spaces located North and South of the Railway. It generates an important offer of freely accessible and free public spaces for leisure and recreation. In defining stages, neighbors are invited to propose ideas and programmatic activities for the conformation of the space. The project in its entirety generates areas of natural open-air ventilation and pedestrian areas that connect the entire park. Living architecture through urban equipment that accompanies the idea of linear and continuous space. Landscaped green areas, gardens of varied lawns with trees and shrubs of different species require little maintenance and increase the urban trees of the city. Vehicular bridges connected to large paths that form dry squares at the level, from which you can access by stairs and ramps to the linear park, with a pedestrian and visual relationship that accompany the landscape and urban layout.
