Abstract
This research studies the relation of socio-metabolic processes of the street, and their incidence in urban sustainability indicators. The research is based on the premise that road systems have a decisive impact on energy, material flow, the connectivity between biological structures, and socio-cultural dynamics, aspects that directly affect urban sustainability indicators. The Juan Ponce de León Avenue is presented as a case study. Parametric information and GIS are used to describe the structural and functional properties of the street. Also, a historical study of the evolution of its social metabolism is carried out. Finally, is proposed an intervention strategy of the Juan Ponce de Leon Avenue aimed at reconfiguring its metabolic processes and evaluate the results through the urban sustainability indicators.
