Towards the Green Urban and Architectural in the City of Shahamah in Abu Dhabi: Green City in Al Shahamah

Abstract

In 2014, the Abu Dhabi government issued directives to the planning authorities in the city of the importance of interest in the development of Shahamah within the framework of the overall trends of sustainable cities in Abu Dhabi. Shahamah is a city in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the UAE. The city is located about thirty kilometers from the Abu Dhabi city center at the junction of highways ten and eleven, linking Abu Dhabi to the Emirate of Dubai. Based on these directions, the planning authorities studied the development proposals of Al Shahamah and opinion was expressed on the expression of the government’s orientations, which maintained an advanced system that contributes to sustainable development and enhances the quality of life in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi municipality, in cooperation with the planning authorities in the Emirate, prepared a guide for the requirements of Shahamah, which leads and instructs designers on how to permit their buildings in the region according to the planning requirements and in accordance with the vision of the government in creating a sustainable green and sustainable urban society in line with the ability of the market to bear these dependencies. This study explores the impact this form of sustainable development will have on the area.
