Sustainable Strategy to Decrease Potential Impacts of Oil Extraction on Environmental and Agricultural Resources

Abstract

In the Kurdistan region, in the Koya district particularly, agricultural concerns surrounding oil extraction are increasing due to the implication and implementations of agricultural settlement and the transition fresh and pure lands to a different zone (oil and gas industry district). Unquestionably one of the rich sources of the country’s income is advantageous, however, awareness about the impacts of oil production and extraction has increased, alerting farmer and even environmental activists. This is because oil extraction may affect neighborhood and public health as well as destruction of the rural area. Furthermore, this strategy is problematic for the future of agricultural operations in terms of animal breeding and modern agricultural projects such as house glass houses and orchards. This study conducted a new strategy to normalize the impacts on it. Also we interviewed several land owners and farmers to create a structure to find out the optimal solutions and support their places in different aspects. The results will demonstrate what aspects of this sector will face more issues such as the changing in area and what are the factors to reduce the oil industry’s impact on both environmental and agricultural infrastructures in that place. Additionally this work advocates some solutions to the described issues accurately and completely as a sustainable way to reduction the impacts by establishing an agricultural assembly. Finally the work is an attempt to reduce the hazardous of oil and gas impacts on both sectors in the region.
