Indoor Dining Space Research to Shape Mood Lighting

Abstract

People pursue a great quality of life, but as society progresses, the traditional dining style continues to change from the past. Diet is an integral aspect of human life and has gradually evolved into a food culture heritage and development. In the process of creating dining atmospheres through the spatial layout of space, materials, textures, furnishings, etc., the use of light environment is especially important in shaping the dining space. Setting different light can reflect the different style of the space, providing people with dual enjoyment of visual and taste. Lighting not only provides essential light needed for the space but also creates an elegant and comfortable dining environment. The use of light environment in dining spaces as a subjective design has a great relationship with the space. The lighting reflects the taste of the entire restaurant space and base mood. A natural flow in the lighting can influence the feelings of the customer and create a dramatic experience. In this paper, I will investigate the question of how to set a good light environment into a dining space to improve human visual perception. This paper tracks and records reactions from various experimental settings involving how each stimulus element affects people’s moods or predicts their response to the lighting environment. For the research method, I will use an empty industry storage unit to create, by light environment design, a variety of dining spaces. In interior design and rational use of lighting design, lighting can become a catalyst for good indoor environments. In different spatial environments, a designer needs to consider the needs of different groups. My study shows that lighting design reflects the relationship between the overall room color and lighting fixture colors, so that the overall color of the room reflects a sense of hierarchy, it demonstrates that dining space indoor light environment overview meets the different functions of the spatial layout needs, and it analyzes the artistic conception of light space environment in different styles. My findings reinforce the base design principle of being “people-oriented,” which is too often ignored by designers. Lighting should meet technical indicators, but also consider the process of human visual perception on psychological reactions. To this end, we must explore the dining light environment for the human being within the deeply-set needs of interior design.
