Abstract

The study ascertained the performance of eleven municipalities in the 5th District of Iloilo on green environment towards a sustainable future. The result showed that all eleven municipalities in the 5th District of the Province of Iloilo were continuously creating and working with various programs and projects to help our shattered environment. They were also encouraging local legislators to construct policies and ordinances based on the national laws to mitigate additional damage to our ecosystem. But the lack of interest of the locals to follow implemented programs and ordinances causes more harm to our environment. In addition, public information about these projects and policies were too limited because of lack of financial assistance from local government. Overpopulation was also one of the factors that affected this noble act of our local leaders. Educating and unity among all stakeholders will be the solution to these rapid environmental problems and the issues of the eleven municipalities which the 5th District of Iloilo is facing today. When taken as a whole, the statistical result showed of the four areas, such as green municipality, green culture, green policies/ordinances, and green community were under moderately. In terms of green research, the mean score was labeled low. When classified as municipal, the green municipality, green culture, green policies/ordinances, and green community; the mean result showed moderately. And for green research, the mean score was low. When classified as barangay, all the areas were considered moderately.
