Project Management Processes and Practices in High-rise Building Maintenance in Lagos State

Abstract

An outstanding project management process and practice is significantly needed to increase the life cycle of a building and to lessen unforeseen failure or wear consequences. Thus, the performance of project management processes and practices have to be continuously reviewed and analyzed in order to ascertain a high quality service. This study assesses project management processes and practices in high-rise building maintenance, with a view to suggesting ways of improving the processes and practices. The objectives are to identify and assess the project management processes and practices used in the maintenance of high-rise buildings in Ikoyi, Lagos state, Nigeria and to evaluate the effectiveness of the project management processes and practices. Simple Random Sampling technique was adopted for this study. Data were collected from both secondary and primary sources. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistical tool. The study revealed that quality management process and consider the future practice, with a Relative Significant Index of 0.66, are the most essential project management process and best practice. Schedule management process and take inventory practice, with a Relative Significant Index of 0.69, are the effective of the project management process and practice. The findings of this study will be beneficial to project management stakeholders in the implementation of effective project management processes and practice towards ensuring adequate usage of high-rise buildings throughout its life span.
