Human and Technology Nexus: Posthuman Understanding of Self Intertwined with Sentient Machines

Abstract

The hermeneutics of Posthumanism is directed towards embracing the ‘exotic’. With the expeditious growth and development in technology and artificial intelligence (AI), human and technological nexus develops a reconstructed meaning in the posthuman interventions. This transmogrification of human understanding in the age of AI requires deconstruction of self as an entangled being with other constitutive elements of the universe and specifically with technology. Applying certain seminal aspects of posthuman school of thought, posthuman conceptualization of consciousness and posthuman spirituality understanding, I trace the philosophical progression of humans reflecting and contemplating their essence of existence in the posthuman ethos. Spirituality blurs the outer and inner self decoding singularity by focusing on deeper awareness of self. The technological developments embraced and blurred by posthuman philosophy gives rise to posthuman spirituality. The deconstruction of self cannot be isolated or disconnected from technology in the current highly immersive digital era. Firstly, I propose that while technological progressions may be threatening it creates a trajectory for humans to reconstruct and re-realize self as a non-anthropocentric existence. Secondly, I argue to engage and deconstruct posthuman interventions in the light of discerning humans and machines fuzziness as a resource to amplify self and machines simultaneously. Thirdly, I emphasize that spirituality and posthuman is intertwined and in the posthuman interventions recognizing self is intertwined with spiritual machines.
