Participatory Transcultural Sensitive Metaverses : Cultural Landscape Line of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/UNESCO (2012)

Abstract

We virtually expose the artistic and cultural practices of Morro do Palácio, in Niterói/RJ, the only favela counting on a building projected by Oscar Niemeyer (MACquinho). The creative reality of Morro do Palácio is unveiled through Expography and Sensitive Digital Museology with the creation of a Virtual Display of the Carioca Cultural Landscapes declared by UNESCO (2012), accessed by VR glasses that allow a virtual walk through the territories of the inserted communities in the landscape. They stand out in Metaverses, Digital and Social Patrimonialization (Favela Popular Knowledge), highlighting the various interactive layers (Traditions, People and Built Landscape). We are creating a Cartographic Display of the Territory of Guanabara Bay with Patrimonial, Social and Landscape Assets to access the Landscape Registration Line from the MACquinho promontory, in addition to displaying its Sensitive Metaverses online on the Urban Digital Platform of the City Hall of Niterói/ RJ. Favelas of Grande Rio are invisible territories in the Cultural Landscape Registration Line/UNESCO, to be discovered through Participatory Metaverses. We want to allow and guarantee a sociocultural and sensitive Accessibility to the Morro do Palácio favela to reach a sociocultural/heritage perception, aiming to fight against structural racism by breaking social masks and virtually diluting physical borders; Social and environmental contributions are based on photographing the daily life of the favela up to Chapadão (Upper Hill) and enjoying routes/trajectories to expand the living space of its residents, in addition to emphasizing the educational relationship between MAC-Niterói and MACquinho, through the project Art-Environmental and Heritage Action.
