On OER, the Public Domain, Creative Commons and E-pubs : Reinventing the Textbook for Today's Students

Abstract

Do we want to really democratize the educational experience? More and more faculty are embracing Open Education Resources (OER), breaking free from monopolistic textbook publishers with their increasingly restrictive digital licensing. After discussion about the epistemic value in curating your own open educational experience and myriad places to get started, we will crowdsource a quick ebook that embodies the potential in sharing planning, content creation and publishing across campuses and disciplines.
