Sentiment Analysis of Twitter Streaming Data for British Library and Library of Congress : A Comparison Study

Abstract

With the advent of social media, the way in which people express their views, opinions, and beliefs have changed tremendously around the world. Thus, the sentiment analysis of the tweets of the two most popular libraries will help the policymakers, researchers, librarians and market analysts to understand the views and opinions generated by their active and potential users on an international platform regarding the services, products, needs, expectations and satisfaction level. Firstly, data will be retrieved from Twitter for the queries- British Library and Library of Congress for a month period using RapidMiner and then sentiment analysis will be performed using Rosette Text Analytics on the data retrieved. The paper will have applicative objectives. The prominent hashtags in the study will not only cover the latest trends, conferences, initiatives, campaigns, issues, suggestions, problems, or solutions related to both the queries but also covers the geographical locations and the news related to those events. This study aims to provide a better insight as how the two libraries are functioning on the popular social media platform.
