Abstract
This research investigates the ways in which people learn about finance from the Internet, focusing on bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Drawing from in-depth interviews with crypto investors (small and large), and discourse analysis from online threads such as r/cryptocurrency and r/bitcoin from Reddit, this project explores the ways in which people consult, interact with, and learn from online communities about finance through the lens of crypto. In addition, this project examines beliefs and behaviors around the intersection of money and the digital.
